The Charleston Urban Renewal Authority strives to administer plans for five urban renewal areas in which the Authority oversees economic redevelopment efforts including infrastruction improvements, land use regulations and the renovation or removal of blighted structures. The agency is governed by a seven member Board of Commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council.
