Muncicpal Court Dockets
(The attached dockets show the date the docket was created and items on these dockets are subject to change until the Municipal Court starts.)
Location:
Municipal Court is located in the City Hall building on the corner of Virginia and Court Street. The entrance is on Court Street side of the building and opens at 3:00 p.m. for court sessions. The Municipal Court Clerks’ Office entrance is through the front revolving doors on Virginia Street, first door on the left, room 103. The office is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Parking is available in the Shanklin Parking Building next to City Hall on Virginia Street.
Hours of Court Sessions:
Criminal Court begin at 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday.
Traffic Court/Building/Zoning begins at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.
Traffic Court/Dog Violations Begins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
Dockets for court sessions are posted outside the courtroom the day before sessions are held.
The docket is called at the beginning of each session. Those people who answer roll call will be heard first. Witnesses are released from subpoena if the defendant is not present at that time. Defendants not on the docket or arriving after roll call will sign the late list.
Court Appearance Date is found at the bottom on the front of the citation. Requests for continuance must be received by the court in writing 7 days in advance of the court date for a good cause. If a continuance is granted by the judge, a notice is sent stating the new court date.
Method of ticket payment:
Certified check, cash, money order, or personal check. Bond must be paid in cash. Any check returned for insufficient funds must be redeemed in cash and will be subject to a processing fee.
