Exchange Amoung Univeristies is Developing

Greetings from the delegation from the University of Charleston! This is Barbara Wright here to report on a very interesting day that we had on Tuesday. It began with a visit to the Rectory, the main administrative building for Majel Bel University. The entire Charleston delegation was received graciously by the rector or president of the university. Both Dr. Welch and the rector expressed hope that we could be in serious conversation regarding an exchange of both students and professors. Then they signed a memorandum of agreement, or in Dr. Welch’s words, a document to facilitate further discussion.

After the ceremony, Dr. Welch headed to the Faculty (or school) of Economics, while Chuck Daugherty and I went to the Faculty of Political Science. I think both Dr. Welch and I felt very encouraged by the conversations. On Wednesday, we continued the conversation with several representatives of the different faculties on a more practical level regarding what would actually by feasible and when. We are hopeful that within a year or two students from the University of Charleston will be able to study here and that students from Majel Bel will be able to come to the US. All in all the conversations were stimulating and exciting and have brought this cooperation closer to fruition.
