Familiarity and Change in Banska Bystrica

Thu, 05/20/2010 - 4:26pm

To Charleston from Banska Bystrica – Today is the second to last day of our exchange trip and we have accomplished quite a bit. We signed agreements with the City government, agreements with the Universities, and agreements with the Theodor Roosevelt Hospital. It is named that because Eleanor Roosevelt gave the money to build it at the end of the Second World War.

Saturday--A Day Learning

Sat, 05/08/2010 - 5:32pm

Today was an eventful and informative first full day in our Sister City.  We were able to see and ask questions about three joint Slovakian and European Union tourism projects beginning at a water flume exhibition and ending in a mining town.
The first stop was a water flume exhibition. This project showcases the country’s rich historical lumber industry by giving an exciting demonstration for visitors to see the transportation of wood through a 2,045 meter flume.
